PASCO, WASHINGTON – The LBCC Women’s Basketball team ended their 2022-2023 season with a loss in the Sweet 16 round of the NWAC tournament.  After reaching the tournament for the first time in four years, the Lady Roadrunners faced the Peninsula Pirates, falling with a final score of 79-76. Averaging 14.2 points and 6 rebounds per game, she is a keystone player for the Roadrunners.  Hankwitz has played basketball from an early age, and was introduced to the sport by her father.  From Astoria, Oregon, Hankwitz enjoys hiking and plans to continue playing basketball after her career at LB. She wants to study business to build a solid career and believes that the key to a good performance on the court is leaving everything at the gym door. When did you start playing basketball? Started probably like third grade, maybe a little before that. Who got you interested? My dad; he was my coach when I was growing up throughout high school. I started like through a school program for little kids and then ever since then I just continued to keep playing and played tournament ball as well as school ball. A vocal leader who brings energy and aggression to the basketball court and life, this season Hale has channeled that aggression into driving at the basket for layups.  In her time away from the courts and the classroom, Hale likes to go hiking and explore Oregon’s wilderness. After basketball, Hale hopes to pursue a career in nutrition for children. When did you start playing basketball? When I was in third grade. Who got you interested? There was one dad who was putting on a team and reached out to my mom and asked if I wanted to play and I did; then I fell in love with the sport because I was actually good; I did dance and I didn't do any sports and then he asked for me to be
