Jeff Merkley Speaks at Linn-Benton

Albany, Oregon – Jeff Merkley spoke at Linn-Benton Community College on Saturday Feb. 11. On a murky day with clouds covering the campus, Senator Merkley arrived on campus to a crowd of about 50 people, each bringing their own questions and concerns to the town hall meeting.  The lively event began with the mayor of Albany , Alex Johnson , speaking to the crowd about his vision for the city, including helping to keep campus life and college attendance affordable for students and prospective students in Albany and the surrounding communities.  After Johnson introduced the staff and students who helped to facilitate the Senator’s speech at LB, Merkley stepped onto the stage, sporting a heavy winter jacket, microphone in hand. Men's Basketball Loses Close Game to Clackamas

Albany, Oregon – The Linn-Benton Men’s Basketball team lost their second consecutive game on Wednesday, Jan. 25, this time to Lane Community College. The Men’s team entered the game with an 8-10 record, including 3-2 in conference play. This created a fairly even matchup with the Titans, sporting a 6-11 record for the season with a 1-4 record in the NWAC. The Titans won the game 89-80. The Titans held the lead for almost the entire game, and extended their lead to as much as 15 points in the first half. Lane connected on 18 of 40 shot attempts in the first half, while the Roadrunners only made 12 of 31. Linn-Benton was also outrebounded 20 to 15, and the Titans collected 7 turnovers to the Beaks’ 4. In addition to this, Lane delivered four blocks to Linn-Benton’s 1 in the first half of play.  The Beaks, however, continued to claw at the lead and closed the game several times. Women's Basketball Team Falls to Clackamas

Albany, Oregon – The Women’s Basketball teams lost to Clackamas Community College on Wednesday, Feb. 15.  Entering the game with an 18-4 record, including 8-3 in conference play, the Women lost 81-47 in a game where the Roadrunners could never find their rhythm. The Lady Cougars started the contest with a 16-5 record overall, with a 8-2 in the NWAC.  In what was never a close game, the Cougars led from start to finish maintaining a 17-7 advantage after the first quarter and a 34-18 edge at the half. Madison Dutkiewicz had 6 points and a steal in the first half, while the team made only 3-18 shot attempts in the first quarter and 7-35 attempts in the first half. This included going 0 for 11 on three point attempts in the first half. The second half provided more of the same, with Linn-Benton being outscored 31-15 in the third quarter. At the end of the game, Muriel Jones-Hoisington was the high scorer for the Beaks with 9 points, 1 rebound and 2 steals. Kathleen Hale added 4 points, 22
